Arrive in Tokyo and make your way to your hotel using the transfer information provided in your travel documents.
The rest of the day is yours to explore this incredible city at your own pace. Visit the serene Meiji Shinto Shrine, stroll through the gardens of the Imperial Palace, or discover Japan's rich history at one of Tokyo's renowned museums. From ancient traditions to dazzling city lights, your Tokyo adventure begins today! You can also visit the Tokyo Marathon Expo to collect your Bib.

Meal: None

This private tour arranged only for Active Holiday Company runners covers landmarks such as the Imperial Palace, Asakusa Kannon Temple, and Nakamise Shopping Street. We will be picked up by our English speaking guide at the hotel. Coach transport is included.
Please do make time today to visit the Tokyo Marathon Expo for packet pick-up, if you haven't already done so.

Race Day is finally here!
There is plenty of entertainment and sightseeing for runners as you follow the course—Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building - Suidobashi - Ueno-hirokoji - Kanda - Nihombashi - Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate - Ryogoku- Monzen-nakacho - Ginza - Tamachi - Hibiya - Tokyo Station/Gyoko-dori Ave. Throughout, there are stages set up, cheerleaders, marching bands, and rock bands performing in various spots and much more excitement.
The transfer back to the hotel from the finishing area of the race is included in your tour price.
Later today, you will celebrate at the iconic After Run Party that is like nothing you will ever experience after any other race.

Having checked another Abbott World Marathon Major off your list, it’s time to head home today. You will need to make your own way to the airport.

FAQs

Yes, all of our Abbott World Marathon Majors tours include guaranteed race entry.

There are no qualifying times for the Tokyo Marathon but all runners MUST be at least 19 years of age on race day.

There is a 7 hour cut-off for the Tokyo Marathon 2025. The 7 hour time limit is based on the gun time for the first wave and not the runners net time. Runners who lag excessively behind the cut-off time pace may be stopped and asked to leave the course at anytime.

Yes, all the Abbott World Marathon Majors races require that the participants attend the expo in person for packet pick-up. Pick-up times will be pre-assigned within a specific time frame. Your travel documents will contain detailed instructions on how to get to and from the Tokyo Marathon Expo from your hotel.

If you have booked your sixth and final Abbott World Marathon Majors race, please let us know. We will guide you through the process and ensure you receive your Six Star Finisher Medal at the finish area on race day.

Yes, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to book the extra nights for you. Although our Tokyo Marathon tour starts from Friday, we do recommend that runners arrive on Thursday as it gives you time to adjust to the time difference.

We have several single travellers interested in sharing a room with another traveller and, wherever possible, we try to pair up people who have requested rooms on a twin share basis. However, please keep in mind that this is not a guarantee and in some cases, you might be required to take a single room.

As tour operators, we are required to sell the race entry along with accommodation. It will not be possible to buy just the race entry.

Yes, it is possible for us to organise accommodation for you if you already have the entry or if you are travelling with a non-running companion. However, please note that this will be at the same hotel as the rest of the group travelling on our package.

When we offer multiple hotel options, you have a choice between these options. When we offer only a single hotel for a trip, all travellers stay at that hotel. Unfortunately, we do not offer the option for travellers to stay at any hotels other than the ones we already have on our itinerary. We choose our hotels painstakingly, ensuring that they are well-located and have all the necessary amenities and comforts – we offer only limited options because we like to foster an atmosphere of camaraderie on our trips, and this happens when runners are staying in the same hotels. No, it is not possible to change the hotel. We plan for our marathon group to stay together at a single hotel, therefore, it is not be possible to upgrade hotels as you are part of a group booking. You may, however, request an upgrade in the room type at the same hotel.

The hotels we use have been picked for their location and ease of access. In Tokyo, we offer a choice of a superior 4-star and a 3-star hotel. Both the hotels offer amazing convenience and services. 

The Tokyo Marathon does not allow runners to transfer their spots to another runner or to defer to another year. If you do not run the race as registered, you lose your entry, and cancellation charges as per the policy will apply.

Active Holiday Company does not offer services for visas and flights. However, we can point you to service providers who offer these services.

TRANSFER & DEFERRAL

  • In the case of a booking with race entry included, your non-refundable deposit is specifically for the trip and the year that you have booked. 
  • Unless the rules of the event permit deferral to another year or a transfer to / replacement for another participant with or without a fee, your non-refundable deposit cannot be applied to another event or year, even if Active Holiday Company is the official travel partner for the event. 
  • Bookings without race entry included can be transferred as per policy applicable to the booking.

OTHER CONDITIONS

  • All costs exclude GST 5% and  2% TCS
  • All digital payments, including UPI, attract a 3% Platform Fee. Partial payments will be charged the fee to the extend that is paid via the digital platform. To avoid the 3% please arrange a direct bank transfer. 
  • Our prices are per person. Even if you have booked a single room for your exclusive use it is mandatory to pay for all your travel companions. 
  • The use of any service, including hotel services, by anyone who is not a paid participant is strictly prohibited. 
  • Active Holiday Company reserves the right to amend prices if the currency fluctuates more than 5%.
  • Participants are prohibited from using the event logo for any purpose. Entry through travel companies not approved by Tokyo Marathon Foundation are not allowed. If discovered, the entry will be voided and the entry fee (including donation) will not be refunded.
  • Use and promotion of competitor brands, products and logos - specifially of any company involved in selling marathon trips is strictly prohibited on all Active Holiday Company trips. This can result in your removal from our trip without any refund and refusal on future trips.

  • The cost of flights, visas, passport, insurance is not included in the tour price unless stated otherwise
  • Any meals not mentioned as included are at your own expense
  • Single rooms, optional tours, and extra nights cost extra
  • Arrival and departure transfers are not included in your tour price
  • Excess baggage, porterage, laundry, phone calls, alcoholic beverages are considered personal expenses and not included in your tour price
  • GST, VAT, and other taxes as applicable in India are additional to the tour price

Wonderful Experience with Gauri and the Team

Extraordinary experience

Cape Town Marathon was just amazing. You couldn’t have asked for better weather, a fabulous picturesque route, incredible community support and superb arrangements. The energy throughout the course was electrifying and every stretch offered breathtaking views. The volunteers, spectators and fellow runners made the entire experience truly memorable. And when it comes to Active Holidays, Gauri and her team never settle for anything less than perfect. From the excellent hotel stay — just 500 meters from the start line for me — to the wonderful get-together with fellow runners, the city tour, partial route recce, pre-race lunch and post-race dinner, everything was thoughtfully planned and exceptionally well managed. Just amazing from start to finish.
